Amphenol Industrial Expands H4 Plus™ Series with New 2000V Solar Connector
Amphenol Industrial Operations has expanded its H4 solar connector series with the launch of the H4 Plus™ P2KV, a 2000V solar connector designed for next-generation photovoltaic (PV) and energy storage systems.
Engineered for emerging high-voltage PV architectures, the H4 Plus™ P2KV supports 2000V DC operation and 6 AWG / 16 mm² PV cables, helping to meet the demands of large-scale utility solar installations, longer cable runs, and higher-power system designs.
The connector supports a rated current of 65A (ETL certified) and 70A (TÜV certified) at 85°C. A typical contact resistance of ≤0.25 mΩ helps maintain a low-loss electrical interface, ensuring consistent performance in demanding solar and energy storage applications.
Designed for outdoor environments, the H4 Plus™ P2KV offers IP65 and IP68 protection when properly mated and IP2X protection when unmated. Its UV-resistant thermoplastic construction, UL94-V0 flame-retardant rating, and compliance with RoHS and REACH standards further support long-term use in PV installations exposed to harsh environmental conditions.
Available in both field-installable and pre-assembled configurations, the H4 Plus™ P2KV offers flexibility for system designers and installers integrating connections into PV systems. Dedicated tools for stripping, crimping, inspection, torque application, and unlocking facilitate controlled and repeatable installations.
As solar projects transition from traditional 1500V architectures to 2000V DC systems, higher operating voltages help increase string power and—depending on the overall system design—reduce the number of parallel circuits, cabling, and other Balance of System (BOS) requirements. Typical applications include:
Utility-scale solar installations
Commercial PV systems
Module string connections
Junction boxes
Compatible inverter DC interfaces
PV energy storage systems
Energy storage applications
The addition of the H4 Plus™ P2KV strengthens Amphenol Industrial’s solar connector portfolio by extending the proven H4 platform to higher-voltage, higher-power applications, while maintaining the durability, environmental resilience, and electrical performance required by modern PV systems.
